Alfred Conteh
Artist Story
Alfred Conteh holds an MFA from Georgia Southern University (2004) and a BFA from Hampton University (1997). Based in Atlanta, Conteh is a nationally exhibited painter whose large-scale figurative works explore the social, psychological, and historical battles of African diasporal communities in the South. His ‘Two Fronts’ series features patinated colossuses standing over the communities they represent — a visual metaphor for fighting wars from within and without. He has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution, Amon Carter Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, LACMA, Kavi Gupta Gallery (Chicago), and across the U.S. Represented by Kavi Gupta Gallery.
