Our Story

Nearly 20 years ago, First & King was born in a barbershop, though I didn't know it at the time.

It was a regular Saturday afternoon. The chairs were full, barbers moderated debates, and the conversations were loud. A continuous flow of folks from the street streamed through the shop selling whatever you needed — music, clothes, movies, art — all hustling to make something out of nothing.

When I think about that barbershop, I realized it was more than a place to get a haircut. It was community. It was culture. All working hard to make it in a society that offers more contempt than grace or compassion for the Black community.

This reflection struck me and demanded I do something. Something to help my community and Black creators flourish and succeed. And the idea of First & King was born.

First & King is a reimagining of the hustle from that barbershop. A digital block that promotes Black creators redefining fashion, culture, and beauty.

First & King exists to build an enduring platform where Black creators, brands, and artists have a permanent foundation for long-term growth. We are not just here to spotlight talent. We are here to cultivate the soil so that Black excellence can take root, grow, and thrive for generations to come.

We're a team of marketing, branding, and business strategy professionals who believe that talent deserves to be seen. Combined, we bring years of experience helping brands and businesses grow across multiple industries. Most importantly, we believe in the power of community and we've built First & King to put that belief into action. Our expertise exists to serve one purpose here: helping Black creators, brands, and artists grow.
