Brownstone is a contemporary menswear brand founded in 2017 by twin brothers Warner and Waverly Watkins — Morehouse College graduates from Danville, Virginia, who came up through Atlanta's fashion scene before heading west to Los Angeles to build something different. The name comes from their admiration for New York City brownstones and the idea of housing all of their varied ideas — mohair cardigans, leather jackets, cargo trousers — under one roof. Brownstone creates garments that exist outside of space, time, and trends: pieces that combine the accessible energy of streetwear with the philosophical intent of a runway house. All fabrics are milled exclusively for the brand, sourced from Japan and Italy, and production prioritizes quality and intentional pacing over fast fashion volume. The result is a label that earned a place in Nordstrom's Black_Space initiative, co-signs from LeBron James, Daniel Kaluuya, and Chris Paul, and consistent coverage from GQ, Forbes, and Highsnobiety — a brand proving that independent Black-owned menswear can compete at the highest level while staying true to its own vision.
